Case Study

Seashore × EcoLuxia Sustainability Solutions

Green Island · Qatar FoundationOutdoor Refill Infrastructure

Challenge

Seashore wanted to introduce visible, practical hydration infrastructure that could help raise awareness around sustainable water consumption and encourage a shift toward refill and reuse.

The Green Island installation was designed to place that idea into a real public environment — making sustainable hydration accessible and visible to the community, particularly young people. The broader pilot was intended to demonstrate how outdoor refill infrastructure could support education, engagement and a more sustainable approach to everyday hydration.

EcoLuxia Approach

EcoLuxia designed and developed the outdoor refill infrastructure as part of the Seashore × EcoLuxia collaboration.

EcoLuxia's role included:

  • Hydration system concept and architecture
  • Unit design and configuration
  • Fabrication coordination
  • Installation and setup
  • Positioning the infrastructure within the Green Island environment
  • Sustainability and impact-measurement considerations

The Green Island unit was designed as a semi-permanent reference installation for regular daily use and evaluation, with a particular focus on youth education, water quality, reliability and user experience.

System

Outdoor Refill Unit

Designed to provide accessible refill infrastructure within a shared outdoor environment and support a simple REFILL → REUSE → REPEAT model.

Sustainability & Community Outcomes

  • Makes refill infrastructure visible within a community environment
  • Encourages a shift away from single-use bottled water
  • Supports awareness and education around sustainable hydration
  • Creates an accessible point for everyday refill and reuse
  • Demonstrates how purpose-built hydration infrastructure can be integrated into public spaces
  • Provides a reference installation for evaluating future expansion.

An on-site hydration system replacing the recurring bottled-water model with reusable infrastructure.

  • Replaces approximately 22,500 single-use plastic bottles annually
  • Introduces a reusable glass bottle system
  • Reduces dependence on recurring plastic-bottle procurement

Case Study

Mohd. Yousuf Kafood & Sons Trading & Contracting Co. × EcoLuxia

Challenge

Kafood's existing model relied on continuously purchasing small plastic water bottles and plastic water gallons, with approximately QAR 39,000 in annual water expenditure. This also required recurring procurement, consumable storage and ongoing handling of plastic waste.

EcoLuxia Solution

EcoLuxia proposed an on-site hydration system replacing the recurring bottled-water model with reusable infrastructure, including:

  • Approximately 360 reusable glass bottles
  • Reusable glass gallons
  • A thermal bottle sterilisation and drying machine
  • On-site water production
  • A fixed, reusable bottle inventory rather than continuously purchasing disposable bottles.

Results

  • 22,500 estimated plastic bottles avoided annually
  • ≈ QAR 38,000 estimated annual reduction in water expenditure

Sustainability Outcomes

  • Replaces approximately 22,500 single-use plastic bottles annually
  • Introduces a reusable glass bottle system
  • Reduces dependence on recurring plastic-bottle procurement
  • Shifts from continuous consumable purchasing toward a fixed reusable inventory
  • Enables water production on site
  • Simplifies storage from variable consumable stock to a fixed, organised reusable inventory.

Community & Charitable Hydration Initiatives

Purpose-led hydration infrastructure.

EcoLuxia provides purpose-led hydration infrastructure for community and charitable initiatives, from system design and unit development to site selection and deployment.

A purpose-led approach to hydration

Hydration infrastructure can serve more than commercial environments. EcoLuxia works with organisations and sponsors to bring accessible drinking-water solutions into community spaces and initiatives where they can create meaningful everyday value.

Current Implementations

Current Implementations & Strategic Initiatives

Active deployments across residential, corporate and hospitality environments in Qatar.

  1. Residential Advanced Hydration Systems

Deployment of advanced ionisation systems across private residences in Qatar, supporting reduced single-use bottled water dependency and improved everyday hydration quality.

  2. Refillable Hydration Infrastructure

Development and implementation of refill-based hydration ecosystems designed to reduce plastic waste and support long-term operational sustainability across corporate and high-consumption environments.

  3. Sustainable Packaging Integration

Introduction of reusable glass and aluminum bottle systems designed for safe, long-term operational reuse across hospitality, workplace, and wellness environments.

  4. Hygiene & Reuse Infrastructure

Integration of thermal disinfecting systems and tamper-evident sealing processes to support hygienic, refill-based hydration operations at scale.
